 Classify these spiders!

Love your site! Been visiting for several years! I'm glad you have the forum open now!

My daughter had a breakdown when we caught these two spiders. The black one was rushing toward my newborn so he unfortunately got squished.








This one is obviously the underside.

Sorry they pictures aren't the best. I tried to get some of their eyes but got scared (although I'm sure these guys were more scared of me).

I've been doing some research. Is the first one part of the staedota genus?
The black one resembles an ant mimick spider... What do you think? Except it has those long pinchers...

the first one is in the steatoda family which includes the widows but I can't see underneath to see if it has the red markings the widows do. Otherwise it is definitely a steatoda. The other is some sort of myglamorph which are the primitive spiders and include tarantulas and trapdoor spiders etc. You can see its book lungs, the lighter patches on the under side of the second one. glen
